Dave Cook displayed a fascination for knives and the elements of knife design from an early age. His love for the inherent beauty of well designed objects led Dave to study Industrial Design at The Rhode Island School of Design, where he received his degree in 1983.
 
Following graduation Dave realized the kitchen knife market lacked stylish, practical alternatives, and so began to develop his idea for a "tangless" knife design. He envisioned a knife in which the handle material itself would be used to make the structural connection between the blade and the handle. The result is a line of knives with a look, feel, and construction like no other. A company was formed, and "Dave Cook Kitchen Tools" was launched in September, 2007.
